Volunteers

An event like this is not possible without amazing volunteers!  We work with your schedule and strengths. A happy volunteer is a successful event. What we want to know is when you want to work, what time works for you? Then, we make it happen. It is all about you – no expectations! 

Volunteer with Canadian Tire - Jumpstart, the annual Atlantic Jumpstart golf tournament. A rewarding experience, making a difference in the community. Plus, the opportunity to spend a day on a beautiful golf course, supporting this fundraiser.

Volunteer opportunities include registration, on course support, banquet assistance and set up, and more.

Volunteer Roles and Opportunities: 

For the gala: usually four (4) to six (6) volunteers are good. Shift work or a full day, whatever works for you

Location: The Westin Nova Scotian, 1181 Hollis St, Halifax, NS B3H 2P6

  • Noon to 4 pm - gala set up (place cards & print progams on tables, auction display, general help
    • 2 minimum, 4 maximum for volunteers
  • 5 pm to 10 pm - registration, meet/greet; live auction spotters and finance sheet runners... general gala support
    • 4 minimum, 6 maximum

For the golf tournament: usually twelve (12) to sixteen (16) volunteers are good. Shift work or a full day, whatever works for you

Location: Glen Arbour Golf Club, 40 Club House Ln, Hammonds Plains, NS B4B 1T4

7 am to 11 am shift: 

  • Vendor Check in Table - 2 people
    • 7 am to 9:00 am
  • Golfers Check in table - 4 people
    • 7 am to 9:30 am
  • Golf Cart set up - 2 people
    • 7 am to 9 am
  • Bag Drop / bag valet team - 4 people (must be physically fit, able to lift golf bags (usually they weigh about 20 lbs)
    • however, I have caddied for some amateurs that have golf bags weighing up to 50 lbs
    • Skills: if you have any volunteers that golf, this is a great role for them
    • 7 am to 9:30 am
  • 9 am to 11 am: the above will be assigned to general support, clean up, and on course support if necesary

7 am to 4:30 pm - 4 people - ON COURSE SUPPORT: 

    • Skills required: should be a golfer, must be able to drive an ATV / Gator / Utility Vehicle
    • Assist teebox hosts on and off the golf course
    • Assist teebox hosts with set up
    • During the tournament, support tee box hosts with:
      • washroom breaks (driving them to and from washrooms)
      • ensure they have water and snacks
      • general on course support
    • on course clean up after tournament finishes
  • this shift can be broken into two shorter shifts if necessary

11 am to 6 pm: 4 people - Prize table set up, dinner and live auction support, awards hands out, Photographer

  • general support roles for the after golf supper

Added Value Volunteer skill sets: these roles / volunteers are so wonderful to have. I would work closely with this team. 

  • Photography - using any device, cameras, phones, tablets - two to four photographers to capture the day, and the dinner, would be amazing
  • Videography - 1 or 2 people, reels, snippets, interviews
  • Social Media - anyone that can support with social media posts
    • this position can start anytime
    • create accounts, general posts, FOMO posts, thank you to sponsors and donors posts
  • Volunteers who can start now, creating an Online Auction Committee
    • filling out donation request forms, all online
    • creating a list of businesses that might donate a silent auction item
    • Dawn will host a master class for these volunteers
    • time required - whatever they can offer - an hour a week? a few hours a week? 
      • starting asap - ending July 2025
    • Skill sets: Google, excel, and content management
      • bonus skill sets: shopping, travelling, online research, challenge junkie
